Lately, a lot of men are convinced that they have low testosterone.

This is due to a few factors. First, The Joe Rogan Experience. Second, rising fears about “low testosterone in men” have gripped headlines, making men all over the country rush to the doctor in search of an answer as to why their dick doesn’t work like they want it to.

In reality, low testosterone isn’t especially common, with professionals estimating that low-T only affects about 2 percent of men. Additionally, for those who are concerned about their testosterone levels but do not medically require additional testosterone, doctors usually recommend diet and exercise over any injectable solution.

Why? Because injecting testosterone can have some not very fun side effects. These include headaches, anxiety, an increase in body hair (while losing your head hair), and in some cases, a surprisingly *decreased* interest in sex. Yes, you may get some better gains from it, but you may also increase your risk of prostate cancer and heart problems.

Oh yeah, you might also want to buy a truck.

I started taking testosterone shots due to low T now I want a truck. Is this normal?

According to Redditor gRod805, he never wanted to own a truck — until he started taking testosterone shots. Now, he says, he desperately wants to get behind the wheel of an absolute monstrosity. “I like that it will be roomier, be higher up, I’ll be one of the guys. And if I ever go camping or on a road trip I can put stuff there,” he writes. “I also feel like I’ll get more respect from people.”

He seems to be under the misconception that people see a guy in a truck and think “cool dude” rather than “dick.” He also, as one user pointed out, may be suffering from not a testosterone issue but “new homeowner syndrome,” where home buyers think they need a truck because they bought the Home Depot orange bucket.

In short, gRod805 probably doesn’t need a truck, as most truck users don’t end up using their trucks for truck stuff. And as several users in the thread pointed out, while there’s nothing inherently wrong with getting a truck, you should probably have a better reason than “the testosterone shots made me do it.”
